ART NEWS: ArtsWestchester Is Seeking Applicants For Its Young Adult Leadership Council

WHITE PLAINS (WESTCHESTER COUNTY) NY: ArtsWestchester’s Young Adult Leadership Council

ArtsWestchester’s council members meet twice monthly at ArtsWestchester’s gallery, in downtown White Plains, to plan, evaluate, attend, promote, and develop ArtsWestchester teen programs.

Professional teaching artists and ArtsWestchester’s education staff lead workshops that help build public speaking and writing skills, as well as provide an understanding of the cultural arts in Westchester County.

Youth must apply for the program and undergo an interview with ArtsWestchester staff.

Applications are accepted on a rolling deadline through September 30th. Once accepted to the program, youth meet 16 times total (typically two times monthly) from October to May.

The Council comprises of about 20 young adults annually divided into a Junior Council of high school students and Senior Council of college students.

Council members can serve as a member multiple years, for a maximum of 3 years.

A $500 stipend will be provided to cover the costs asscoiated with transportation to ArtsWestchester.

  • Must be available for all of the meeting dates

Leadership Council Requirements:

  • Attend all of the meeting dates listed in the guidelines. Meetings will be held at ArtsWestchester, 31 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains with occasional virtual meetings.
  • Additional time commitments require attending 1-2 Teen Tuesdays & Thursdays workshops. These workshops are scheduled weekly on a Tuesday or Thursday, so you will have the ability to choose a date that aligns with your schedule.
  • At least once monthly, you are required to meet virtually one-on-one with an ArtsWestchester youth liaison.
