BASKETBALL: With a 55-45 victory over Green Tech, the Mount Vernon boys basketball team finished the season unbeaten

GLENS FALLS, NY: The Mount Vernon Knights beat Green Tech 55-45 to claim the Class AA state championship and stay perfect, joining the 1978, 1991 and 2000 teams as the only undefeated state champs.

Mount Vernon was trailing 28-24 at halftime and were a few tight moments in the closing minutes, but the Knights' poured it on.

Mount Vernon extended its state-championship record to 12.

And Coach Bob Cimmino won his eighth title and is more than any other program in New York.

In his 27 seasons, Cimmino is now 576-113.
