CITY OF RYE (WESTCHESTER COUNTY) NY: Mariano Rivera, a Hall of Fame pitcher and former New York Yankee bought the mansion for $5.7 million in 2006 and listed it for $3.995 million in 2020.

But the Wall Street Journal reported, the nine-bedroom home at 1 Brook View Lane  in Rye City closed for $3.783 million, a loss of roughly $1.9 million.

Mr. Rivera, who in 2019 became the first player ever unanimously elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, moved his family from Panama to Westchester in 2000.

The Riveras are selling the property because their three sons are grown and the family is looking to downsize.

The new owner of the huge 13,050-square-foot home has an elegant interior, with coffered ceilings, large mantles, and ornate moldings and door frames.

There are nine bedrooms and eight-and-a-half bathrooms, a home theater, gym, rec room, massive pool deck, and a gated motor court, and a four-car garage.

It is said that one of Mo’s favorite spots in the home was a wood-paneled sports bar, where he would host friends business associates and former teammates.

The brokers were Heather Harrison and Alex Grapstein of Compass.
