HELP WANTED: Westchester Parks Foundation’s Camp Morty Seeks Energetic Leaders for Mountain Lakes Park This Summer
Westchester Parks Foundation, the only organization dedicated exclusively to promoting and supporting Westchester County Parks, is seeking applicants to work this summer in residential positions at the Camp Morty, a traditional sleepaway camp for underserved children in Westchester County.
Located at Sal J. Prezioso Mountain Lakes Park, the county’s northernmost park in North Salem, Camp Morty was founded in 2006 and is operated by the Westchester Parks Foundation in partnership with Westchester County’s Department of Social Services, Department of Community Mental Health, and Department of Parks.
The camp provides a quality outdoor traditional summer camp experience for children ages 8 to 15, many of whom are in foster care, live in homeless shelters, or are under child protective services.
Job openings include work as a Camp Counselors, Certified Lifeguards, Camp Nurse, Social Worker, Kitchen Staff and more.
All staff live on the grounds while camp is in session. Room, board, and meals are included along with compensation. Staff have off from Friday evening – Sunday morning.
Mary Ehring, Camp Morty Director, stated: “This marks the first time since the pandemic that we have operated as a traditional sleepaway camp, and we are excited to continue our tradition of cultivating a safe, supportive and engaging environment for new and returning staff members. We are looking to hire energetic, adaptable, and creative role models to lead, encourage and foster growth among our campers and themselves."
Applicants must be 18 years old as of July 1, 2022, and if appointed and under the age of 18, they must provide the age-appropriate working papers to comply with NYS Labor Laws.
