PRESS RELEASE: State Assemblyman Nader Sayegh (D-Yonkers) has a warning for individuals selling baby formula at outrageous prices on platforms like Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace, the New York State Attorney General’s Office is cracking down on these illegal practices.
NEW YORK: State Attorney General Letitia James issued a price gouging warning this week, saying she is putting baby formula profiteers on notice and wants New Yorkers who see exorbitant price increases for baby formula to report it immediately.
QUOTE: “I applaud Attorney General Letitia James’ quick action to enforce price-gouging laws against unscrupulous businesses and individuals who are exploiting the National Baby Formula Shortage for economic gain,” said Assemblyman Nader Sayegh.
Nader Sayegh added, "If you see price gouging for baby formula, report it to my Assembly District Office in Yonkers at (914) 779-8805. My staff has direct contacts with the Office of Attorney General to expedite action against these unscrupulous individuals."

The nationwide baby formula shortage was triggered when Abbott Nutrition issued a recall of formula made at a manufacturing facility in Michigan, combined with COVID-19 related supply chain issues in the industry and a surge in demand as the rate of mothers breastfeeding newborns has declined nationally according to the Centers for Disease Control.
