ONGOING EVENT: Have you ever wanted to write a script, movie, or play? Well, here’s your chance! Serena Norr will be here to help guide you in that process!

Register here.

Week 1: Learning about character, improv, thinking about concepts:

Young writers will get to know each other through improv and character-development games. We will make a mini-storyboard as we create characters together.

Week 2: More about character:

Writers will continue to develop their characters as well as set the tone/mood of their stories.

Week 3: Treatment and logline:

Young writers will learn about treatments and loglines as they learn how to hone into the main parts of their story.

Week 4: Write it out:

Young writers will get a prompt to focus their stories — they can also write/craft from their ideas. They will learn the structure of how to write a movie and share 1-2 pages of our drafts. Students will also draw and create the world of their play via art. Homework will be given so students can continue to work on our stories. This is where we will write our plot and outline.

Week 5: Read it out and make changes:

Young writers will bring back their work as they continue to hone in their characters. We will start to “act” out our scenes and hear them out loud. Homework will be any rewrites.

Week 6: Let’s Make a Movie:

Parents and caregivers are invited to hear a portion of the movie out loud with a juice and popcorn reception.
